Burgundy is best savoured by bike too, and several routes take you straight into the heart of the terroir. Here are two classic loops, both accessible and full of local character.
The Route des Grands Crus and the Canal du Centre, about 52 km (intermediate)
Starting from Beaune, you follow the Canal du Centre, ride through wine villages and the vineyards of the Côte de Beaune, and come back along the famous road of the appellations. A few variants let you stop for a Pommard or a Volnay along the way.
The Voie des Vignes from Beaune to Dijon, about 46 km (easy to intermediate)
A wonderfully pastoral ride linking Beaune to Dijon through stone-built villages, classified vineyards and small hamlets, with a remarkable wine-tasting character.
Practical tips
- Estimated time: 2h30 to 4h depending on the loop.
- Level: intermediate (a few climbs), or easy on the greenway for the Voie des Vignes.
- Available services: guided outings with tastings at the halle des Climats (Côte de Beaune, Pommard, Volnay) and visits to partner estates.

- Morning: the Route des Grands Crus and Canal loop.
- Lunchtime: a stop at an estate for a tasting.
- Afternoon: ride the Voie des Vignes to Dijon, or head back to Beaune.
